Tudor Matte Nickel Shower Rose

When every detail tells a story, a home becomes much more than a place to live. For this project: 'The McIntyres , the client drew inspiration from cherished childhood memories and a deep appreciation for traditional Queenslander design. Guided by the character and craftsmanship of her grandparents' family home.

Can you tell us about the initial vision for this project?

C: This project is purely a gesture of love to my grandparents and their home. I am not fortunate enough to have a block as large as they have, however, many memories were formed in my grandparent’s family owned and built home. It was built in the early 1900s and stands proudly as a traditional Queenslander colonial. Wrapping veranda’s, high ceilings, exceptionally large skirting boards, heavy wooden doors and ultimately antique brass tapware that was most likely imported from England. I always remember laying in the bath admiring my Nans choice of tapware, pretending to call my brother on the ‘phone’. The porcelain C and H labels on the taps. Every detail I could describe to you endlessly. So, I knew when I was recreating their home, I wasn’t going to skim on the details that meant the most to me. I wanted to recreate these memories in my home, for me to reminisce, for my children to enjoy and our future grandchildren to experience.

What feeling were you hoping to create?

C: I wanted to honour the traditional Queensland colonial by adding a touch of class and elegance to style. However, ultimately respecting my Nans home and the traditional McIntyre owners.

What led you to the selection of this Matt Nickel Finish and Par Taps as a brand?

C: I was very much after a colonial tap, that spoke of class and elegance, but wouldn’t age despite the interior design fads. I felt a chrome finish would be too harsh for the ambiance. Seeing the champagne like Matt Nickel spoke of charisma and I was instantly drawn back to it, every time I looked away. If I am being honest, Par Taps as a brand was bought to me by another company, that I didn’t end up purchasing through. However, I would highly recommend how thorough and professional the original company and staff member was, when they were finding my character. They knew your Tudor range would compliment my home perfectly and they were right!

How did the Matt Nickel finish influence your choice of colours and materials throughout the space?

C: The choice of Matt Nickel with the porcelain finish influenced many of my choices. All my YDL Vene Rose stone has been finished with a lambs tongue profile and was especially chosen due to its soft Matt Nickel like veins throughout. All cabinetry is custom made and finished in an Antique white USA finish. I also purchased a Victoria + Albert Worcester Bath to stand proudly beside your Tudor Floor bath filler mixer with handshower.  I’m hoping by making these decisions I have created a stylish and classy home that my Nan would be proud of.

What do you find most distinctive about the Tudor Porcelain collection?

C: The feeling of grace and class. It shows that you cared about every detail that was being selected for your home. I didn’t want to settle for ordinary, straight off the shelf selection. I wanted people to see and use the handles and acknowledge its stylish manner and the thought behind each room, complimented by an eye-catching piece.
